An experimental typeface inspired by a pillar

Having wanted to try my hand at designing a typeface for quite some time, I decided to start with an experimental display font inspired by architectural forms. I came across the pillar above, and was drawn to the strong stature and simple geometry. Delving into the world of Gylphs, I created a typeface called Pillar Display, that aims to feel quirky and playful yet endearingly simple.

I’m currently in the process of turning some of the letterforms into three-dimensional visualisations in Blender, to be more closely connected to the real life pillar that inspired the forms.
